Facebook aims to make its energy-consuming data centers as environment-friendly and has pledged that it would power its global operations with 100 percent renewable energy by the end of 2020. The company mentioned that they have accomplished these particular goals a year early by reaching 51 percent clean and renewable energy in 2017.

Particularly, tech supermen such as Facebook, Google and Amazon consume astonishing quantities of electricity to power their global networks of data centers and infrastructure across the globe.

“We are proud of the influence that our renewable energy program has on the local communities and the overall market. All the wind and solar projects are new and on the similar network as our data centers. This means that each of these projects brings investment, jobs and an improved environment to the communities,” said the company in a blog.
